Type One is a digital media publication produced by Upper School students from Pine Crest School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. In 1945, the original paper published under the name The Pine Crest Gazette. In the 1950s, the name changed to Sand Spur denoting the prickly spurs found near the beaches in Florida, where the original campus resided. In 1975, students at the new campus wanted to create a new name for the paper, so the name changed for the final time to Type One. In 2011, Type One moved from a print newspaper to an online only digital media publication. Today, the staff of Type One consists of over 75 students who meet outside of school hours to produce and run the website and is advised by Tina Jaramillo. Type One publishes on a nearly weekly basis throughout the school year and uses WordPress to run the online content.
